To build from scratch the corporate development and promotions
departments for a new, professional baseball league based in the
Southeast.
The South Coast League (SCL) hired us to a short-term contract to
help launch its League-wide corporate sales and sponsorships
efforts in preparation for the League’s inaugural season in 2007.
With limited resources (both budgetary and tangible goods), we
had to create a database of prospective Southeast-based
companies that could afford top-tier sponsorship platforms, such
as a League-wide presenting sponsorship, promotional nights in all
six SCL markets and unique sponsorship platforms specific to the
corporate partner’s business.
We utilized existing relationships to form cross-promotional
opportunities. The popular blog, The Biz of Baseball, receives
numerous unique visitors each day, from decision-makers active in
the sports sponsorship industry. We designed an eye-catching
advertising button to drive readers to visit the SCL’s website or call
us directly to learn more about the League’s available sponsorships
and to request customized co-branded marketing platforms. More
than 12 percent of the SCL’s website visitors click through from
*The Biz of Baseball.*
In addition, we created the placeholder logos for the SCL’s marquee
sponsorship platforms: each state’s Rivalry Series and the League’s
Championship Series.
